Childrens’ Book Review – The Bigfoot Escape

We received a free copy of The Bigfoot Escape by Suzanne Selfors from the Little Brown Kids Club for my son to review.

The Bigfoot Escape by Suzanne Selfors

When it arrived, son1 was daunted by the length – 200 pages, so I have been reading it to him, although he joined in by reading text on the illustrations.  I think it is aimed at slightly older children.  Son1 is in year 2.  Currently he is very much into the Beast Quest series of books, so he related well to the Imaginary Creatures.   I had to explain a little of the language like “sidewalk”.

Here is a drawing by son1 of Ben, Pearl and the Bigfoot in the Fog Bomb scene, which was his favourite part of the book.  He has written “I liked the part when Ben fogged the senior centre”.

Son1 really enjoyed the story. And he twigged onto it being Book 1 in a series, so we discussed how Book 2 will probably continue the tale of what Ben and Pearl get up to next.

Son1’s review is also posted on the LB Kids Club website.

Cryptids – that is a new word to me, but yes son2 is enjoying reading Fantastic Beasts to me and we’re coming across ones like the Loch Ness Monster in there as magical creatures who haven’t hidden too well from “Muggles”. Love it
