We went for a muddy wet adventure today, as it wasn’t raining for once. Round here, it is just the same as in most parts of the country – floods, floods and more floods. So we all put our wellies on and headed towards the nearest recreation ground. Normally this would be a simple walk, not an adventure. But today the conditions underfoot certainly turned it into a challenge. We couldn’t take our usual shortcut, as when my husband tested out the depth of the water, it would have been over the tops of my boots, let alone the kids. So we had to wade along where it was shallowest, namely right on the edge of the kerb. No photos of that bit, as we didn’t want to wait to get splashed by passing cars. Luckily they slowed down when we were close, as I saw other cars speeding through, ignoring the warning signs, creating an enormous tidal wave. We did have one casualty – one boy slipped over into the water, so we didn’t stay out too long. But we decided to take an even longer route back to avoid going through the floods again. Although it was a bright crisp day, I was certainly glad to be back in the dry afterwards.
This post is an entry for BritMums ‘Winter Little Adventures Challenge’ sponsored by Barny, individually wrapped bear-shaped sponges with a hidden filling. Find out more about Barny here. I didn’t get any of the Barny snack samples, but they certainly sound tasty, so I’m sure my Little Adventurers would enjoy them.
This time of year always makes outdoors activities difficult doesn’t it? If its not raining and flooding then it’s snowing! Glad you had a nice time despite the weather.

Indeed. And dreadful for the people whose homes have been flooded. That happened to my parents home when I was a child
