Belo & Me Lunch Bag review and giveaway

Do you take a packed lunch to work? If so, what do you carry your packed lunch in? Currently I just grab a plastic bag from my bag holder, so a Lunch Bag sounded a great idea to me. I received a free Lunch Bag to review from Belo & Me, in a design and colour of my choice. Amazingly fast dispatch, as I received it via Royal Mail, only a day and a half after choosing it.

I’m a big fan of reusable shopping bags. My favourites are the ones purchased as a school fundraiser with my sons’ artwork on them. However I hadn’t heard of lunch bags as a similar concept.

The Belo & Me Lunch Bag is made of jute fibre and is a sturdy conveniently sized design which won’t fall over, as you drive over speed bumps. No more bruised fruit rolling around in the passenger foot-well. Although if you plan to use it for kids lunch, be warned that it doesn’t have a fastening. A press-stud might have been preferable to keep it closed for kids.

I tested it out with a bottle of water, a sandwich box, crisps and an apple. There was plenty of space left if you prefer a larger lunch. I don’t know if it is washable, but the lining can be easily wiped clean. And it folds flat for easy storage when not in use.

Jute fibre is 100% bio-degradable and recyclable and so environmentally friendly. In comparison, the average plastic carrier bag is used for five minutes, but takes 500 years to decompose. In the UK alone billions of plastic bags are thrown away each year. Disposable plastic is the greatest source of plastic pollution, on land and in the ocean.

The lunch bags are priced at a very reasonable £3.75 each. You may see the range of colours and designs available in the Belo & Me online shop. Lots of lovely designs. I chose the cupcake one in blue, so that it would also appeal to my sons. And they also sell shopping bags.

The Belo & Me website also suggests that the bags could alternatively be used as gift bags, party bags or mini shopping bags. And my idea is that they would be great for somewhere to put all those tiny toys that get lost in the bottom of big toy boxes.

And I’m hosting a rafflecopter competition to giveaway a lunch bag in your choice of design and colour to two lucky winners, courtesy of Belo & Me.
