I’m sure there are probably subscription boxes available for lots of types of products, but I recently came across one that was new to me – BoxOfWax who provide monthly goody boxes full of scented candles and wax melts. And they have kindly sent me a free box to review. Wow, what a treat.
I always love the element of surprise you get opening and unpacking a subscription box, wondering what goodies you might find inside. This was no exception and when I opened the lid, I was delighted to see the thought that had gone into the packing process. Pink gems and shredded paper attractively hid the contents from sight. Dual functionality of also protecting the products in transit, but giving me the bonus of an extra step in the Big Reveal.
So this is what I got in my box.
Classic Candle ‘Chocolate Brownie’ Wax Melts
Classic Candle ‘Tiare Flower’ Minilight
Kringle Candle French Lavender Daylight Candle
Kringle ‘Hot Chocolate’ Wax Melts
Village Candle Vanilla Caramel Swirl Votive
Village Candle Rendezvous Votive
Village Candle Rain Wax Melts
Cleave’s Pink Lemonade Soy Wax Melts
Heart shaped Votive Holder
Village Candle Pure Linen Car Scenter
My box is the Bronze subscription. BoxOfWax offer four monthly subscription boxes and pricing is currently as follows…
Bronze contains £20 worth of wax and costs £16.99 including £1.99 P&P.
Silver contains £30 worth of wax and costs £26.99 including £1.99 P&P.
Gold contains £40 worth of wax and costs £35 with free postage.
Platinum contains £50 worth of wax and costs £45 with free postage.
So each box contains an extra £5 worth of free wax.
And if there are certain fragrances that you don’t like, you can just send them a message, so that those are not included in your box. Also you may upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.
I was really impressed with the contents of the bronze box. I haven’t sampled everything yet, but let me tell you about what I have tried. I started with the pink lemonade heart-shaped melts, as I’ve never come across melts before. I thought they would work well in my burner that I usually use with a few drops of essential oil and I was correct. I lit a tea light in the bottom of the burner and then popped a melt in the top basin. It didn’t take long for the very pleasant scent to spread round the room. And the aroma was long-lasting. Afterwards the wax hardened into a disk which proved a little difficult to remove from the basin.
Sticking with melts, the next day I tried out a Chocolate Brownie melt. I liked this aroma even better, but it did make me want a tasty sweet treat to eat, sitting there smelling it all evening. And to avoid the difficulty cleaning the basin afterwards, this time I allowed the wax to cool slightly, but before it hardened, I tipped it away into an old yoghurt pot and washed the remaining wax residue out immediately. A much better solution.
After Chocolate Brownie, I knew exactly what I wanted to sample the next day. It had to be the vanilla caramel votive candle which of course I placed in the attractive heart shaped votive holder. And the aroma lived up to my expectations. It was fantastic, so I was salivating again. I blew the candle out after about 2 hours, so I can still enjoy it some more.
I was really impressed at how much was included in the bronze box. Great value for money, especially when you consider how long the fragrance of each item lasts. I highly recommend the bronze box and I’m sure the other subscriptions are equally fantastic. Just choose your level according to how much of a wax fix you want each month. And may I add that the P&P is tiny. I can see that the actual cost to post my parcel was £2.80 and that is without considering the packing cost.
And now let me mention their sister company For Candles & Hampers. Something in your box that you wish to purchase extra of, then just pop over here. Or take a look for gifts and burners.
And I’m hosting a rafflecopter competition to giveaway a bronze box courtesy of BoxOfWax to one lucky winner. A lovely treat prize.
