My Naipo Christmas wishlist

I dream of being able to indulge in a regular weekly massage at a spa, but such treats are few and far between. More like once a year than once a week. So I often notice the tightness, tension and aches in my body, particularly the neck, shoulders and back. Also many years ago I had a whiplash injury from a car accident, which has always resulted in extra tightness and tension in my left shoulder. Therefore it is great to come across massage products you can use yourself at home. I’ve been browsing the product range from Naipo on Amazon and come up with the following wishlist.

Three Shiatsu massage products to focus on back, neck, shoulders and feet – my most achy areas. Plus a couple of cushions, one for everyday use targeting the lumbar region whilst sitting using my laptop and the other for travel.

The boys Christmas wishlist

Sonia of Mummy Constant is running a fun competition for bloggers sponsored by Debenhams. Bloggers and their children need to come up with their Christmas toy wishlist from Debenhams.

I knew the boys would love this. But I did set them a time limit for choosing otherwise they would still be at it now. And it would be an incredibly long list. Pretty much everything except Barbie! They took turns but they have similar tastes in toys and both approved of each other’s choices.

So they chose a game each first. Son1 loves playing Temple Run on the iPad and was overjoyed to find that a Temple Run board game also exists. Meanwhile son2 already has several Angry Birds catapult games, but discovered another one that he would like, the Angry Birds Classic Table Top Action Game.

Son1 has already written that he wants Minecraft things on his letter to Santa. So no surprise that he chose the Minecraft Survival Pack toy. He already has all the books and a hat, but no toys. Both boys are addicted to playing it on their iPods and I keep overhearing them talking about stone cutters, diamonds, emeralds, etc. And I had to persuade son2 to reword his request to Santa for Minecraft on the exbox. Bless his spelling. We don’t have an XBox and his letter now says Minecraft on the Mac. So I may find my time on my Mac gets curtailed, but as there hasn’t been a version released for the WiiU yet and as I don’t intend that we replace our gaming platform, it looked like options were limited.

And son2 managed to find a Star Wars LEGO set that neither of them already have, the LEGO Star Wars Death Star Troopers 75034. And I must say that we do have lots!

Then another family favourite from son1. The Beano joke book. The boys have lots of vintage Beano annuals and comics which used to belong to their uncle and love reading these again and again.

Son2’s next choice of a Moshi Monsters MICRO Spaceship is a little young for them in my opinion but both boys still love playing with their Moshis. In fact a more modest request on Son2’s letter to Santa is for Woolly. We do already have Woolly but it belongs to son1 and son2 particularly wants his own.

Son1 had a look around the science toy department and came up with a rather gruesome suggestion of a Gross Science Zombie Hand. Definitely not my cup of tea.

And finally I suggested the last item to them and I’m very happy that they agreed. A Large LEGO storage head 4032. I just hate it when I tread on Lego – so painful.

And not of interest to the boys, but I was pleased to see that of these products are priced at an affordable level. A couple of the items were already reduced in price too.

Autumn/Winter 14 Blogger Style Challenge

Debenhams are running a competition for bloggers to showcase two outfits based on any of their six AW14 trends. One outfit for the blogger. And the second outfit is to be for another blogger who should be nominated to take the style challenge too. There are £500 voucher prizes for both bloggers.

So for my first outfit, I’ve chosen the Pinks & Berries AW14 trend for myself.

And I’ve chosen the Winter Greens AW14 trend for the second outfit for Super Lucky Di whom I’m nominating to take the style challenge too. I hope Di likes green!

My Dream Bedroom

Good to be Home are running a competition for bloggers to show what their unique interior design style would look like by creating a blog post with samples of the furniture, wall paper, furnishings, art, etc that would be in your dream bedroom or living room.  This is being run in partnership with Laura of Little Stuff and Arianna from Heart Home.

I have decided to show you my dream bedroom. I’ve created a moodboard on Polyvore. I still need to work out why prices are automatically displayed in dollars rather than pounds and the product names also modified. I had to change them all back manually.

I’ve chosen the antique brass “Krystal” bed in a spacious king size as I love its classical look.  And I’ve never had wallpaper, so it was exciting to choose the Beka design in a gorgeous lavender shade.  I think 4 rolls should be sufficient.  I’ve then continued the colour scheme of purples and mauves for the duvet cover, pillow cases, curtains, cushions, throw and a comfy bedroom chair.  Then a light fitting in antique brass to compliment the bed.

My current wardrobes are fitted, so I plan to keep them along with the matching drawers, dressing table and bedside cabinets.  However I have chosen a beautiful mirror for the dressing table.  I couldn’t find any purple table lamps, but these grey ones will go nicely.  And finally I have always wanted a tea maker in the bedroom.

I’m linking my post up with Heart Home.

Shopping at Vertbaudet for a kids Mother’s Day Outfit

Becky of Baby Budgeting is hosting a competition for bloggers to create a blog post showing the perfect outfit for your little one to wear on Mother’s Day using Vertbaudet clothes.

I decided to go window shopping for an outfit for my elder son. He is quite fussy about what he will and won’t wear. In particular he hates jeans and any fastenings except zips on his clothing. Fortunately he has given up complaining about buttons on school shirts and I did manage to source elasticated waist school trousers.

So I’ve chosen him a pair of tracksuit trousers, which can be rolled up to shorts length. Plus a reversible top and a reversible hoodie. It makes me feel like I’ve got 6 items for the prize of 3. And finally I’ve selected a pair of trainers. I think I’ve got this outfit spot on, so I expect a happy smiling boy when we go out to celebrate Mother’s Day.

My Little Mistress Wishlist

Little Mistress is running a competition for bloggers to create a wishlist featuring an outfit from Little Mistress.

There are some lovely dresses for special occasions on Little Mistress, but I haven’t really got the opportunity to go somewhere special, as we have to administer my son’s chemotherapy every evening. I have therefore chosen a nice outfit for work on my wishlist. I have selected a pair of black trousers and a cream and black top with a snakeskin design. I have accessorised these with a matching rose gold crystal rhinestone bracelet and ring. Little Mistress don’t sell shoes or bags, but this handbag from John Lewis and shoes from Debenhams will coordinate nicely with my outfit.

My Perfect Valentine’s Day Outfit

House of Fraser are running a competition for bloggers to create their Perfect Valentine’s Day Outfit. So I’ve chosen this gorgeous embroidered shift dress with a scallop lace design. And since it is chilly at this time of year, I’ve coordinated it with a 3/4 length sleeve black bolero jacket. A pair of black and white high heel stilettos compliments the outfit. Accessorised with minimalist matching crystal necklace and bracelet. And finally a black clutch bag for the items I don’t go anywhere without like my phone, cash and keys. Now I’m ready for a romantic night out.

Valentine’s Day Blogging Assignment

The Watch Hut are running a competition for bloggers to pair together a gents and ladies watch.

The Watch Hut is the UK’s largest online retailer of watches, offering a wide selection of timepieces, so this assignment took some time for me to choose. Ladies and Gents watches are very different in style naturally, so after some deliberation I decided to choose two watches from the same brand. I opted for the brand Guess, to link in with guessing what the surprise Valentines watches might be. Then I chose something sparkly for the lady with black, white and pink interchangeable straps, so she can change the colour to coordinate with her outfit. And a stylish black watch for the gent. Both watches have leather straps.

Winter Style Challenge

Debenhams are running a competition for bloggers to showcase two stylish outfits for less than £250 each. The first outfit is a daytime look, which will keep you warm and cosy but looking good through the colder months; and the second outfit should be your ultimate party look. This is being judged by Natasha from girlinthelens.com and Victoria from vipxo.co.uk.

So starting with my daytime look, I’ve chosen to make sure I’m warm and cosy, but stylish when out and about in cold weather. I could have chosen some lovely indoor items like knitted slipper boots too, but I’m happy to turn the heating up or snuggle under the duvet on the settee.

I’ve selected a pair of high waist jeggings by Quiz – great in winter on two counts.  Firstly no chilly bare midriff and secondly they will fit snuggly inside the boots.  I hate it if my boot cut jeans are damp from rain when worn over boots or alternatively the baggy look around the knee definitely doesn’t look stylish if I try to push them inside boots. So the wider fit ‘Good for the Sole’ boots have been specially chosen to comfortably accomodate the jeggings and they are flat, ideal for walking in winter weather conditions.

Then I’m teaming the jeggings with a cosy textured jumper, by Red Herring.  Machine washable of course, unlike some knits, as it’s a nightmare trying to dry dripping hand-washed garments in the winter.  Unfortunately others won’t see the lovely jumper as it will be hidden under the performance fleece jacket by Tog 24.  This will keep me really warm in cold weather and it is quick drying if the rain dares to sneak under my umbrella.

The jacket doesn’t have a hood, so I’ve chosen a matching hat and snood by Mantaray in a vibrant dark pink to give a splash of colour on a dreary winter’s day.  I always wear hats in the winter, as the slightest wind or chill gives me bad earache.

And finally a large tote bag by Betty Jackson to carry all the bits and pieces I don’t go anywhere without.  I think the woven tweed design looks very stylish for winter, and it makes me think of warm tweed winter coats.

Total spend is £201.79

My Debenhams winter daytime look

And now for my ultimate party look. I don’t see any reason to dress for winter when going to a party.  It is usually very hot indoors, especially once you start dancing. Hopefully a taxi to the door and check your coat into the cloakroom.  If really necessary, a pair of folding shoes in your clutch.

So I’ve opted for a glamorous white and black look, which makes me think of a crisp winter day. I’ve chosen a sleeveless lace detail shift dress by Jacques Vert.  This is complimented by the matching classic contrast bolero jacket.

Then I’ve chosen an elegant pair of mid heel court shoes in black ruched satin with diamante trim by Début. They have a round toe and cushioned insole and I’ve selected them based on the customer reviews posted, as my feet blister very easily. The reviews for this shoe in all 3 colours indicate it to be comfortable, even when worn at a wedding all day and evening.

I don’t go anywhere without a bag, so I’ve chosen one which coordinates with the shoes, also having diamante trim.  Again it is by Début and it has a concealable chain strap.

And finally some jewellery to accessorize.  I’ve chosen the triple grey tone pearl and diamante crystal bracelet and matching pearl and crystal ball necklace by Jon Richard.

Total spend is £215.60

My M&S Magical Dining Room

Marks and Spencer are running a competition for bloggers to showcase their dream dining room.  This is being judged by interiors experts: Jen of Love Chic Living and Jenny of Treasure Hunter UK. I’ve missed the chance of doing a Christmas theme, so instead mine is for a special winter dinner party entertaining friends.

I would choose the Greenwich oval extending dining table, great for just the 4 of us and extended for entertaining.  This would be matched by the Greenwich padded dining chairs for a touch of comfort.

Then I would go for a striking red look, with the Manhattan dinner set.  This has 4 dinner plates, side plates and cereal bowls, so I would purchase 2 sets, plus matching pasta bowls, mugs, teacups and teapot.

Sticking with the red theme, I’ve chosen some red enamel napkin rings, which I will pair with traditional white Autograph cotton napkins.  And I’ve never possessed a table runner, so I’ve chosen a lovely red pleated one.  I couldn’t find any red placemats, so I’ve selected black granite mats.

It is always nice to have candles burning at dinner for atmosphere, so I’ve picked a modern glass tealight holder.  I’ll purchase 2 of these plus a supply of tealights.

Then glassware, white and red wine glasses in the Nova range and Marcel Wanders hi-ball tumblers.  Plus a 44 piece set of stainless steel cutlery and we’re ready to eat.

I’ll add some sparkle with large floral arrangements, but these will be on the window sill rather than on the table.  And some magic with balloons, white fairy lights, ribbons and table confetti.

Here’s my mood board featuring my choices from M&S.  I’ve had great fun window shopping online. My M&S Magical Dining Room
