Hillsborough, 25 years on…

Today is a date that I am sure hundreds of families will never forget. Today, 15th April 2014, marks the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough football disaster.

Now, I’m not here to get into any sort of debate about enquiries or cover-ups. It’s not about fault or blame. Let’s save all that for tomorrow if we really have to. Today is about being human and remembering other people who once loved and laughed but were tragically taken too soon.

Football is a HUGE part of the Walsh family life. James and my father-in-law are unapologetic Stoke City fans. They see their season tickets more than they see their payslips. They love the atmosphere, the intensity, and the rivalry. That’s what it’s all about – hating that other team, loving a different player every other minute, all those emotions for 90 minutes that are mainly forgotten by the time…
