Dr. Oetker pizza review plus giveaway

Dr. Oetker is a brand which seems to be in my shopping trolley most weeks, whether it be pizza or cake baking products. And whilst we were in Germany at half term, I tried their breakfast cereal, which was delicious. Pity those are not sold in the UK. So I was pleased to be sent a free voucher to try their latest limited edition Bianca Deliciosa pizza for free.

We only got one free voucher initially, so I had to purchase another of their pizzas myself, to ensure there was enough for the whole family. Rather than getting 2 Bianca Deliciosa, I chose to buy my son’s favourite Ristorante Mozzarella flavour. So he was very pleased when he saw me unpacking the shopping.

Although the boys enjoy helping out when I do homemade pizza, we always find Dr. Oetker pizzas to be very tasty and especially great for a quick meal when you are in a rush. And this new flavour was no exception. I’m a big fan of garlic flat breads that look a bit similar to a pizza with no tomato sauce. So I thought the Bianca Deliciosa with its creamy white sauce to be a bit between one of those and a standard cheese and tomato type pizza. Without the tomato, it meant the other flavours came through more than usual, and I loved it with the bacon and red onion too. My other half agreed and even son1 gave it the thumbs up, once he had removed the onions. Fussy boy. Of course, even fussier son2 wasn’t prepared to give it a try, just sticking to his usual Ristorante Mozzarella.

I wonder how long the limited edition will be around. I do hope it doesn’t disappear too quickly as I really enjoyed it. Although I’m sure Dr. Oetker will come up with something equally good for their next limited edition.

This pizza is currently on special offer priced at £2 at Sainsburys and is also available at Asda and Ocado. More Dr. Oetker pizza flavours stocked at other supermarkets.

And I’m hosting a rafflecopter competition to giveaway some free Dr. Oetker pizza vouchers. Each voucher is valid for any one free pizza from the Dr. Oetker Ristorante range. Three winners will receive two vouchers each.

Free pizza

Regular readers of my blog may remember that I hosted a Dr. Oetker pizza giveaway earlier this year. Well I’ve now got some more of their free pizza vouchers to giveaway. This time it is to coincide with the introduction of the first calzone pizza to the Dr. Oetker range, which I’ve just tried for free, courtesy of 3 vouchers I received.

Calzone pizza

A calzone is a folded pizza which from the outside looks slightly like a large pasty, but inside is full of yummy pizza topping. So the Ristorante Pizza Calzone Speciale has been filled with mushrooms, salami, ham, tomato sauce and cheese, then sprinkled with cheese and herbs on the outside. I found it really tasty but the boys are not keen on mushroom, so they are hoping that Dr. Oetker will introduce a few more mushroom-less calzone pizzas to the range. In particular son1 wants a mozzarella calzone to rival his favourite Ristorante Pizza Mozzarella.

Similarly to the rest of the Dr. Oetker range, the Ristorante Pizza Calzone Speciale can be found in the frozen aisle, but is currently only available from Asda. It takes longer to cook, due to the extra folded thickness, approximately 30 – 35 minutes, but definitely worth the wait in my opinion. Asda is not my nearest supermarket, so I do hope that other supermarkets will soon be stocking this product.

This calzone pizza currently retails at £1.50 each at Asda, which is great value in my opinion. The rest of the range are available at most major supermarkets. And Dr. Oetker do a fab range of home baking products too which I also buy regularly. Thumbs up for Dr. Oetker which is definitely one of my trusted brands. You can find them on Facebook here.

Dr. Oetker pizza review and giveaway

I’m sure most of you will have seen Dr. Oetker pizza in the frozen aisle at the supermarket, even if you haven’t tried it yet. Dr. Oetker have just introduced a new limited edition to their range – Pollo Arrabiata which combines chicken with a spicy Roquito® sauce. And I received 2 vouchers to try the new flavour for free. I was definitely looking forward to trying this limited edition as I thought their previous Spinaci limited edition was really nice.

Dr. Oetker pizza

I already purchase Dr. Oetker pizzas on a regular basis. They are a firm favourite of the boys and a great standby to have in the freezer for when we need a quick meal and I don’t have time to cook. That is frequently the case on days when son1 does an after-school Street Dance class and we don’t get home until after 6pm. Tea needs to be on the table as quick as possible, because son1 has to take his chemotherapy each evening an hour after food and we don’t want him too late to bed on a school night.

So on my last trip to Tesco I popped a couple of Pollo Arrabiata pizzas in the basket along with son2’s favourite Ristorante Mozzarella flavour. He doesn’t like anything spicy so I knew he would prefer to stick with his usual. I wasn’t sure how son1 would react to the new flavour as he has a more adventurous palate. He gave it a go, but found it a bit too spicy for his liking, so he joined son2 on the Mozzarella, leaving the Polla Arrabiata to us adults. We both thought it was great. And what a bonus, I actually got a second helping and ended up eating half a pizza. Normally I lose out because son1 wants more than his expected share.
